Pacers & Crew

Those who have run an ultra know how important having a support team can be, whether aiming to make the cutoffs or going for the win. Scott is very fortunate to have a pacer and crew that are very dedicated to seeing him shine and cut valuable seconds and minutes off his race times!

Throughout the years, Dusty Olson has been as loyal as they come, pacing Scott to six of his seven Western States victories as well as to his Badwater win. He does this year after year, even though he's run a marathon around 2 and half the weekend before. Dusty's notorious for knowing how to have a good time, even when pushing Scott to run faster up that hill after already logging 90 miles for the day! In addition to being an amazing cross country skier, kayaker, runner, and jack of all trades, Dusty is responsible for getting Scott to run his first ultra when he was only 20.

In 2003, Scottıs dog, Tonto, passed away. Tonto had been a fixture in Scottıs life. He was Scott's main training partner and accompanied him on training runs up to 45 miles in preparation for the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run. "In addition to being a true companion and friend, Tonto was a teacher. He not only taught me how to travel the trail, but ultimately how to become the trail. It is only fitting that he embarked on a new journey while on a trail and during an event that has been a special part of my life." Tonto took another path the morning after Scott won his fifth title on June 29th, 2003. He will be missed, but never forgotten.

Additionally, Scott has been fortunate to have very supportive family and has made many loyal friends throughout his years of racing ultras. Scott would like to thank all of you who have supported him throughout the years! It's wonderful to have the encouragement.
