In 2007, the California International Marathon (CIM) first adopted a visually impaired division and it quickly became a premier destination marathon event for blind runners from across the country. Not only does the CIM serve as the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) National Marathon Championships, it welcomes international participants, youth, novice marathoners, blinded Veterans, and relay participants.
In 2015, the USABA Marathon National Championships included 48 visually impaired and blind runners from 17 States, Japan and the UK. They have previously had international blind runners from Canada, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Dominican Republic and Jordan. The event also included over 60 sighted guides and numerous volunteers to assist with logistical support.
Join me in supporting these runners at CIM come December. For more information about how you can contribute, please use the link below.
